HIV Resistance:

This clinical trial is designed to determine the prevalence of antiretroviral drug resistance in treatment naïve HIV-positive patients. Patients must be about to begin their first antiretroviral regimen After reading the criteria if you are interested in this trial and/or you have additional questions, please call us at (702) 384-9101.

 

The following criteria are necessary for inclusion into this trial:

  1. > 19 years of age
  2. Documented laboratory evidence of HIV-1 infection
  3. Most recent HIV viral load prior to Visit 1 is >600 RNA copies per mL
  4. Antiretroviral treatment naïve (i.e. has never taken an antiretroviral drug)
  5. In consultation with the study investigator, patient has decided to initiate antiretroviral treatment
  6. Is expected by the investigator to begin taking an antiretroviral regimen once genotype resistance test results from Visit 1 are available to the investigator
  7. Fluent in English
  8. Community dwelling
  9. Consents to participate in the study

 

The following criteria would exclude a patient from this trial:

  1. Concurrently enrolled in any HIV-related investigational clinical drug trials during the period of study participation (study participation duration if expected to be ~ 4 weeks)
  2. Has been determined by the investigator to be in need of antiretroviral drug treatment before Visit 1 HIV-1 genotype resistance test results are available to the investigator
